About Petroleum Jelly
What is Petroleum Jelly?
Petroleum jelly, also known as petrolatum or Vaseline (a popular brand name), is a semi-solid mixture derived from petroleum, a naturally occurring fossil fuel. It is composed mainly of hydrocarbons, specifically long-chain alkanes and paraffins.
Here are some key points about petroleum jelly:
1). Composition: Petroleum jelly is typically a translucent or white semi-solid substance with a smooth texture. It is made through a refining process of petroleum, where impurities and unwanted components are removed to produce a purified form of hydrocarbon mixture.
2). Physical Properties: Petroleum jelly has a high melting point, which allows it to remain in a semi-solid state at room temperature. It is odorless, colorless, and relatively inert. It has a greasy texture and is hydrophobic, meaning it repels water.
3). Moisturizing and Protective Properties: Petroleum jelly is widely used in skincare and personal care products due to its excellent moisturizing and protective properties. It forms a barrier on the skin that helps prevent moisture loss, thereby keeping the skin hydrated. It can also provide a protective layer that helps shield the skin from external irritants and harsh weather conditions.
4). Lubricant and Barrier: Petroleum jelly is commonly used as a lubricant in various applications. It can reduce friction and provide lubrication in mechanical devices, such as hinges or moving parts. It is also used to lubricate skin during medical procedures or to ease the insertion of medical devices.
5). Skin and Lip Care: Petroleum jelly is a common ingredient in many skincare products, including creams, lotions, and lip balms. It is often used to soothe dry, chapped, or irritated skin, and to help heal minor cuts, burns, or skin irritations. It is also used as a lip balm to moisturize and protect the lips.
6). Other Applications: Petroleum jelly has several other applications. It is used as a base for certain ointments, creams, and cosmetics. It can be used to condition and protect leather products. It is also utilized in some industrial processes, such as lubricating machinery or as a release agent in molding operations.
It’s important to note that petroleum jelly is for external use only and should not be ingested. Additionally, while petroleum jelly is generally considered safe for most people, some individuals may have allergies or sensitivities to it. If any adverse reactions occur, it is recommended to discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.
Trade Process
Our trade process spreads across CIF, FOB, TTO, and TTT, depending on the buyer’s preference.
Here’s what they entail:
1). Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF): Here, the seller will handle everything from loading the vessel, paying for insurance, and sending the product to wherever the buyer wants it delivered.
2). Freight On Board (FOB): Here, the seller pays for the transportation of the goods to the port of shipment, plus loading costs, while the buyer pays the cost of marine freight transport, insurance, unloading, and transportation from the originating port to the final destination.
3). Tanker Take Over (TTO): Here, the buyer will take over the vessel, offload the product at their destination, and return it.
4). Tanker To Tanker (TTT): Here, the buyer uses their own vessel, long sides with the seller’s vessel, and then the cargo is transshipped when the transaction is fully settled.
