About Muscovite Mica Mineral
What Are Muscovite Mica Minerals?
Mica is a naturally occurring mineral that is based on a collection of silicate minerals and composed of varying amounts of potassium, iron, aluminium, magnesium and water, all having nearly perfect basal cleavage. Mica occurs in igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary regimes and is widely distributed globally. Large crystals of mica used for various applications are typically mined from granitic pegmatites.
Until the 19th century, large crystals of mica were quite rare and expensive as a result of the limited supply in Europe. However, their price dramatically dropped when large reserves were found and mined in Africa and South America during the early 19th century. The largest documented single crystal of mica (phlogopite) was found in Lacey Mine, Ontario, Canada; it measured 10 m × 4.3 m × 4.3 m (33 ft × 14 ft × 14 ft) and weighed about 330 tonnes (320 long tons; 360 short tons).
Types of MICA Minerals
While there are over twenty types of Mica, the two main types of mica that are used worldwide are Muscovite Mica and Phlogopite Mica.
1) Muscovite Mica [KAl2(AlSi3O10)(OH)2]: This type of mica has greater dielectric strength than any other insulating material. It surpasses all Mica in terms of dielectric strength, thermal endurance, mechanical strength, moisture resistance, transparency, flexibility, resilience, toughness and perfection of cleavage, and this makes it the best Mica for electrical and electronic devices.
It is almost insensitive to atmospheric weathering and offers greater resistance to outside chemical influence. The Muscovite Mica is harder than Phlogopite Mica.
2) Phlogopite Mica [KMg3(AlSi3O10)(OH)2]: The Phlogopite Mica is softer than Muscovite Mica and this, for instance, makes it more suitable for the manufacture of commutator Micanite used in commutators of flush running designs.
Mica Facts
1). Mica is the name given to a mineral that are physically and chemically similar. It represents 37 phyllosilicate minerals that have a layered or platy texture.
2). Micas are fairly light and relatively soft, and the sheets and flakes of mica are flexible.
3). Mica is widely distributed and occurs in igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary regimes. Large crystals of mica used for various applications are typically mined from granitic pegmatites.
Trade Process
Our trade process spreads across CIF, FOB, TTO, and TTT, depending on the buyer’s preference.
Here’s what they entail:
1). Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF): Here, the seller will handle everything from loading the vessel, paying for insurance, and sending the product to wherever the buyer wants it delivered.
2). Freight On Board (FOB): Here, the seller pays for the transportation of the goods to the port of shipment, plus loading costs, while the buyer pays the cost of marine freight transport, insurance, unloading, and transportation from the originating port to the final destination.
3). Tanker Take Over (TTO): Here, the buyer will take over the vessel, offload the product at their destination, and return it.
4). Tanker To Tanker (TTT): Here, the buyer uses their own vessel, long sides with the seller’s vessel, and then the cargo is transshipped when the transaction is fully settled.
